I think the meaning behind “self-help” is that you get the info. and you can do what you like with it as opposed to going to the doctor and being prescribed things to do/take. So yeah, it’s help from someone else but it’s up to you to follow through with it. That being said, most anything could be “self-help,” including ideas from Carlin, providing they influence you to live your life in a more fulfilling way.
