How do I iron my clothes without static?

Whenever I iron my clothes, the clothes get a bunch of static electricity; for instance, when I hold my shirt up, the front and back will cling together. Also, the iron seems to leave marks on the shirt that are kind of white-ish and make the top layer look a little bit shiny at parts where there is a fold in the bottom layer. Are the static electricity and marks related? What should I do to get rid of them?

I currently have a cheapo “Rival SteamWave” iron and the setting is on “Cotton” or “medium high”. I also dry my clothes in the dryer for 45 minutes on “low” after the washer finishes washing them. Should I dry my clothes for a shorter period of time? If so, will damp clothes smell after hanging in my closet?

the clothes are in storage bins with lids. I am not sure if the yellow stains are from moisture that seeps inside or what. The clothes are only being stored for a year or two.

Will my clothes get dirty if it rains when I have my clothes outside on the clothes line?

I know that there is talk about polluted rain and whatnot, but do I have to rewash my clothes that is out on my clothesline if it rains while it’s out to dry, or can I just leave it out there to dry again after the rain passes? I’m line drying my daughter’s cloth diapers.

My clothes are coming out of the wash discolored! Any ideas why?

Upon removing my clothes from the washing machine after washing them, I have noticed that several garments have become discolored, with bleach-like streaks throughout the fabric. This has happened with several differents items, especially sheets, towels and t-shirts. I have tried several different detergents, including Cheer, Purex and Arm & Hammer, but I have yet to find one that helps. Also, the clothing is from several different brands, from several different stores, so it’s not as if I am just having a problem with a particular brand or store.
Is it the fault of the clothing or detergent? Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found any solutions?

Ministry to hold clothes giveaway in Lake City
Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church’s Compassion’s Closet Ministry will be holding another of its big clothes giveaways on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. The giveaway will be held at the church , or the conference center next door, at 608 S. Ron McNair Boulevard in Lake City. The ministry focuses on those in need in the four counties around Lake City, but everyone is invited to the giveaway.
